The People’s Garden Initiative– The People’s Garden Initiative was created to challenge employees to create gardens at USDA facilities.

Maryland Master Gardeners– The Maryland Master Gardeners Program promotes a healthier world through environmental stewardship.
American Community Gardening Association– The American Community Gardening Association strives to build community by increasing and enhancing community gardening and greening across the United States and Canada.
City Blossoms– City Blossoms is a non-profit organization working out of the Washington D.C. area dedicated to kid-driven, community engaging, and creative green spaces.
National Gardening Association– Makes available free educational plant-based materials, grants, and resources in five core areas; education, health and wellness, environmental stewardship, community development, and home gardening.

Food Access

Baltimarket – the Virtual Supermarket Project– Baltimarket is a Baltimore City Health Department program that uses an online grocery ordering/delivery system to bring food to neighborhoods with low-vehicle ownership and little access to healthy foods.
Baltimore Food Policy Initiative– The goal of the BFPI is to increase access to healthy and affordable foods in Baltimore City food deserts.
Get Fresh Baltimore– A community awareness and education campaign designed to help you learn more about the importance of fresh foods to your family’s health.

Other Sustainability and Green Initiatives

Power in Dirt– Helps Baltimore City residents adopt a vacant lot, plan what to do on it, get water and other services, and find resources.
Baltimore Office of Sustainability
– The Office of Sustainability develops and advocates for programs that improve the long-term environmental, social, and economic viability of Baltimore City.
Parks & People Foundation– The Parks & People Foundation is dedicated to supporting a wide range of recreational and educational opportunities; creating and sustaining beautiful and lively parks; and promoting a healthy natural environment for Baltimore.
The Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education– The MAEOE encourages, engages and empowers the community to understand, responsibly use and promote the natural world.
Cleaner, Greener Baltimore– The Initiative for a Cleaner Greener Baltimore calls on each of us to take the initiative and make our home – the City of Baltimore – cleaner and greener.
TreeBaltimore– The TreeBaltimore campaign is a ‘call to action’ to residents to plant a tree.
Blue Water Baltimore– Blue Water Baltimore’s purpose is to use community based restoration, education, and advocacy to achieve clean water in Baltimore’s rivers, streams, and harbor.
Baltimore Green Map– Baltimore Green Map is the central clearinghouse to connect Baltimore area residents with sustainability resources and to promote green tourism opportunities for visitors to the region.
